But I am running into one small quirk I thought I would ask about... It is a great idea, especially since she went with the 2GB plan (she is not that heavy a user) but I still like the idea she can see right on one of the main screens what her usage is at any one point. The widget does not update until she clicks on it and it goes into the Verizon site. I know this is not the end of the world or anything, but again I would love to have this quick reminder to reference. I know it only takes maybe 10 seconds for this whole operation, but it still seems the widget should update automatically. I want to create a WIFI widget that will display the SSID, the RSSI (Signal) level. But I also want to be able to send it data from a service I am running that calculates the Quality of Sound over wifi.Available for

I want to create a WIFI widget that will display the SSID, the RSSI (Signal) level.

.49 on the Play Store, Weather Timeline could be the best money you ever spend.

I need to be able to update the Widget every time the RSSI level changes significantly, the Wifi access point changes and when the calculated Qo S from my service falls below or climbs above a certain level.

Also is there a better approach to updating the the widget rather than using a timer and timertask?

(Avoid polling) UPDATE As per Karan's suggestion I have added the following code in my Service: Remote Views remote Views = new Remote Views(Package Name(), R.layout.widget); Component Name this Widget = new Component Name( context, Wlan Widget.class ); remote Text View Text(widget_QCLevel, " " qc Percentage); App Widget Instance( context ).update App Widget( this Widget, remote Views ); No, this is the code you use to trigger the update (I used the 4 lines above at the end of the question).

The app gets its name from its primary function, which is a card-based timeline of the weather, but there's a lot more on offer.

You can select from five different weather services, and there are notifications that warn you of impending weather changes.
